Adkin's Arboretum has 400 acres of woodlands, meadows, wetlands, and gardens which features the Eastern Shore's native plants. Visitors can walk, jog, bike, and view birds and wildlife in these diverse habitats. The gardens have plants native to the Mid-Atlantic coastal plain. Spring peepers, green frogs, and bullfrogs call to visitors as they cross the wetland bridge. There are five miles of hiking paths that wind through the Arboretum grounds, from meadows to mature bottomland hardwood forest. and is handicap accessible. The grounds encourages wildlife to live there, providing the visitor with views of them. For example,  wood ducks and beaver can be seen along Tuckahoe Creek and Piney Branch. The Arboretum has free admission, supported by its members.
There is a visitor's center, which has a gift shop where you can also purchase cold drinks, which is great on a hot day, and restrooms. They offer many special programs throughout the year, and have changing exhibits. The Visitor's Center is open 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday noon–4 p.m.

Directions: Adkins Arboretum is 51 minutes away from Betterton, or 38 miles traveling via US-301S, and if you decide to camp at Tuckahoe State Park, Adkins Arboretum is only a little over a mile and a half away. You can get there in 3 minutes, traveling via Cherry Lane and Eveland Road.
