Still Pond Station State Park

24188 Still Pond Neck Road, Worton, MD 21678

As we came up to this park, a family of deer crossed the road, so be careful as you approach. The parking lot is huge, with plenty of room for boat trailers.

The 11-acre Still Pond Station Park was acquired in 2003, but its small size, although doesn't provide much in terms of hiking, it does provide a beautiful setting in which to relax. It doesn't have any amenities like bathrooms or even trash cans. (Please take your trash with you.) Swimming, although not prohibited, is not recommended.

We went there on a beautiful end-of-summer day and we only encountered one other couple. There is a small waterfront with sandy beach, a small stand of bamboo and a tiny "forest." There is also a boat ramp located on the other side of the parking lot. Beautiful spot to spend a sunny afternoon.

The Still Pond Coast Guard station is still active (from 1970 on) and the house is a seasonal station under Station Curtis Bay. It is open to the public by appointment.

Directions:

From Betterton, Still Pond Station Park is approximately 12 minutes or 6 1/2 miles via Still Pond Neck Road.
